My weight has fluctuated my entire life. I was an athlete in high school, but didn’t practice healthy eating habits. I ate well in college, but didn’t exercise. I’ve gone through uncountable peaks and valleys. At times I have been extremely motivated to eat right and stay fit, and at other times I have completely fallen off the wagon –eating whatever I want and not seeing the inside of a gym for years. I’ve used every excuse in the book – stressful job, not enough time, too tired, too sick – you name it.

A Great Exercise “Bird Dog”

This is a great core exercise that will develop hip and shoulder stability. 

1.  Start by getting into the quadruped position with the hands under the
shoulders and the knees under the hips.


2.  Breathe in through the nose, as you breathe out tighten the midsection
(think of this abdominal contraction as if you were tying up a corset real
tight)


3.  As your core engages, slowly raise the RIGHT arm straight out in front and
at the same time raise the LEFT leg straight back.
